About VoteYourPay & Methodology
Platform: VoteYourPay — Global Election & Tax Simulator (voteyourpay.com)
Our mission
Macroeconomic policy and electoral debates often remain abstract until they impact individual net income. VoteYourPay exists to bridge the gap between legislative rhetoric and household economics. We synthesize statutory tax codes and published political party manifestos into a single, quantifiable metric: your projected take-home pay before and after an election.
Operated as an independent civic-technology initiative, VoteYourPay maintains strict structural neutrality. We accept no political campaign contributions, institutional lobbying funds, or partisan sponsorships, and we never lock core analytical tools behind paywalls. Our platform requires no user registration and executes all financial computations locally within your browser — ensuring your income data never leaves your device (see our Privacy Policy).
What the platform does
By selecting a jurisdiction, entering a gross compensation figure, and specifying regional or filing parameters, our engine calculates statutory income taxes, mandatory social security contributions, and applicable surcharges (such as solidarity levies or municipal multipliers) in real time.
The simulator then contrasts the current statutory baseline against standardized policy projections derived from major political platforms. A dedicated electoral intelligence view pairs these fiscal outcomes with live aggregated public opinion polling — allowing voters, researchers, and journalists to evaluate personal financial impact alongside real-world electoral dynamics across 19 global electorates (United States, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Canada, Australia, Spain, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, India, Turkey, Poland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, and New Zealand).
Methodology — econometric engines & polling aggregation
- Deterministic tax engines. Each supported jurisdiction runs on a dedicated calculation module encoding current-year statutory tax brackets, personal allowances, phase-out thresholds, and social contribution ceilings. Proposed party scenarios are modeled as parametric policy projections — translating published manifesto commitments and legislative proposals into standardized marginal rate or deduction adjustments.
- Public polling aggregation. Electoral visualizations are generated from structured data feeds aggregating reputable national polling institutes, complete with fieldwork timelines and sample metadata where disclosed (including public aggregators such as DAWUM for Germany and equivalent national registries). Polling visualizations represent historical statistical snapshots subject to margins of error, not predictive forecasts.
- Automated update cadence. Statutory tax parameters are audited annually and following major fiscal enactments. Polling feeds are synchronized continuously via automated ingestion pipelines (typically refreshing every 6 to 24 hours).
- Scope & modeling limitations. To maintain cross-jurisdictional comparability, highly individualized tax variables — such as complex itemized deductions, disability exemptions, multi-income household interactions, and bespoke capital gains structures — are standardized. Consequently, all outputs serve strictly as indicative simulations for educational and analytical comparison, never as certified tax or payroll advice (see our Terms of Service).
Strictly independent
Zero political, governmental, or corporate lobby funding. No sponsored outcomes, no algorithmic boosting, and equal methodological treatment across all major platforms.
Private by design
No user accounts, no behavioral profiling, and no server-side salary logging. All calculations execute locally in your browser memory.
Verifiable & accountable
Spotted a statutory bracket revision or an outdated polling feed? Submit the official legislative or polling source — our research desk audits and deploys verified patches promptly.
Who we are & platform roadmap
VoteYourPay is developed and maintained by a distributed collective of software engineers, quantitative policy editors, and regional contributors dedicated to open fiscal literacy. While our team models statutory frameworks with high rigor, we operate as a civic-technology platform rather than a licensed accounting or law firm.
Platform roadmap: Upcoming releases include expanded jurisdictional coverage, multi-year historical tax burden comparisons, purchasing-power-parity (PPP) cross-country indexing, and enhanced accessibility standards.

Frequently asked questions (before contacting)
Is this official tax advice? Can you file or review my personal taxes?
No. VoteYourPay is an educational and econometric simulation platform, not a certified public accounting firm or tax advisory service. We cannot review personal tax returns or provide individualized financial counsel. Always consult a qualified tax professional in your jurisdiction.
Why does my simulation result differ slightly from my actual payslip?
Our calculation engines model standard statutory income tax brackets and primary social contributions. Individual payslips often include employer-specific pension schemes, health insurance supplemental rates, municipal/church taxes, union dues, or bespoke family allowances that are simplified in standardized models.
Can I request a new country or upcoming election to be added?
Yes. We prioritize new jurisdictions based on upcoming national election calendars and the availability of transparent statutory tax tables and reliable public polling data. Send your suggestion to our contact desk.
How do I report an outdated poll or statutory tax bracket change?
Email contact@voteyourpay.com with the country name, the specific parameter in question, and a link to the official government gazette, ministry of finance table, or primary polling release. Our team verifies primary sources before updating the live engine.
